My Creative Journey
I don’t really know when it all began, but I used to wander around art shows and think to myself ‘I’m jealous of you because you can do this or have time to do it’ but believe me that is a lie! Another lie I kept telling myself is I’m not good enough so fear kept me from actually starting. So I kept working in a job that was fun but not what I really wanted to do. Then the pandemic hit and all of the world changed! Well basically closed down! I was out of a job, some of my kids came home and none of us could go anywhere! So now what?? Well that is really when my journey started physically - I started to dabble in little doodles in front of the tv, I then started in sketchbooks but I was just not good! So many years had passed since I had done any art. My family kept pushing me- saying this is good, that is good! 🤣 My family overseas kept saying my color combinations were fantastic, so even though I felt I was wasting my time I kept going ! I put a few of ny early pieces on Instagram and got a lot of positive feedback. Well ok - but it still took a year before I actually built a website and started posting on Instagram constantly! I woke up and realized no one is going to do this except me! So I applied to a big well known show here in town, and got accepted! That has been a very good experience for me, met wonderful artists and my journey is still evolving every day. I have met some wonderful people online and in person. So though I’m new and learning every day, I’m so proud of what I have achieved in these last few months! I have reached out to local stores to carry my work. I’m on waiting lists and a lovely store carries some of my pieces! So from one scaredy cat to another :) if there is some one out there afraid to start - take it from me who has demons galore - just START!! It will amaze you what a small step taken can do!
